Everyone likes to save money on travel, and luckily, there are plenty of great ways to get away without breaking the bank.
Travel hacking is an industry in and of itself, with rewards, credit cards, loyalty programs, and a slew of travel deals to peruse and snatch up.
What if you could earn free travel by playing a game?
With myVEGAS Slots, you can, along with a host of other rewards redeemable in Las Vegas and a handful of other M life and partner properties worldwide.
Read on to learn how you can earn free travel playing your favorite casino games with myVEGAS Slots and other myVEGAS games.
What is myVEGAS?
myVEGAS is the official game of MGM Resorts and the M life Rewards program.
myVEGAS includes a series of free casino games produced by Playstudios through which you can earn Gold Loyalty Points redeemable for rewards. The games are free to play, and the virtual chips used in betting aren’t worth anything outside the game.
You can play myVEGAS games on apps or through Facebook.
While the main myVEGAS game is myVEGAS Slots, you’re also able to play myVEGAS Blackjack, myVEGAS Bingo, myKONAMI Slots, and POP! Slots.
myVEGAS Slots
myVEGAS Slots, the main game of the myVEGAS group, allows users to play virtual slot games for free.
Players can collect daily bonuses consisting of chips, loyalty points, and MVP status points. Players can also collect chips every two hours, whether they play or not, daily via email.
In addition, users can also complete missions while playing slot games for chips and participate in featured games for the chance to win additional chips.
This game offers a wide variety of slot games and is a great way to pass the time or play while doing other things. That is also an excellent option for those who love playing slots but don’t want to spend the money, as you can easily play this game completely for free.
myVEGAS Blackjack
myVEGAS Blackjack also allows you to earn loyalty points and offers daily bonuses and opportunities to collect chips without playing.
In this case, the featured games are all various versions of blackjack, including the single deck, progressive multi-deck, and free bet.
The blackjack games also offer challenges that unlock other virtual Vegas-based casinos to play in.
myVEGAS Bingo
myVEGAS Bingo is the newest game in the collection and is similar in structure to blackjack in that as you play and complete challenges, you unlock more casinos to play bingo in.
Starting in the Excalibur bingo room, you earn collections in each casino by playing bingo games against other users. You can turn these in to earn stars that allow you to increase your daily and hourly bonuses.
myKONAMI Slots
myKONAMI Slots is very similar to myVEGAS Slots, except it is based around older slot games from the Konami Corporation.
As with myVEGAS Slots, you can collect chips every two hours, daily bonuses, participate in challenges, and collect loyalty points for spinning.
POP! Slots
POP! Slots is the newest slot game in the myVEGAS collection and is different from the other two in that users can play against/with other users with group games, shared jackpots, and personal avatars.
If you’re more of a social gambler, then POP! Slots is the game for you.
How it Works
Playing myVEGAS Slots or one of the other myVEGAS games is simple.
The easiest way is to download one or all apps, although you can also play through Facebook. Once you open an app, it will ask you to connect your Facebook account. While you can play without connecting your account or a Facebook account, you need to combine the games and redeem loyalty points for rewards.
Once you get set up, you can collect chips, loyalty points, and VIP status points. While you can collect daily bonuses, the fastest way to earn loyalty points is to play games in the app of your choice, although there is a cap on the number of loyalty points you can earn per day.
myVEGAS Metrics
We’ve already mentioned some of the things you can earn while playing the myVEGAS games, but it’s worth explicitly discussing the various terms and names given to these things to avoid confusion as a new user.
Tier Points
Tier Points are the first metric to be discussed, reflecting how active you are in the games. You can collect Tier Points through collecting your daily and hourly bonuses or through in-app purchases.
There are 7 Tier Levels, and the higher your Tier, the more benefits you receive. These benefits are primarily found in the level of your daily and hourly bonus multipliers, chip package bonuses, and access to the high roller room. At the highest level, you’ll receive priority support and a personal host.
Tier Levels are only good for a certain amount of time unless you accrue enough Tier Points to maintain your level. If you stop playing or play less, your Tier will fall back.
Level
Your Level represents your progress through the game. Every time you play, you earn Experience Points which add to your Level meter. Once you’ve filled the meter, you level up and receive a prize of a chip bonus.
The benefits of leveling up vary from game to game, but as mentioned, you’ll typically earn a chip bonus, and you’ll also unlock new games and features. Leveling up also gives you higher and higher Loyalty Point awards so you can make them faster.
Loyalty Points
For most, earning Loyalty Points will be the primary goal of playing myVEGAS games. Loyalty Points are the currency through which rewards are redeemed.
You earn Loyalty Points primarily through playing the games, and each spin or hand contributes to filling up a gold coin. Once the coin is full, you’re awarded Loyalty Points.
The number of Loyalty Points you earn with each full coin depends on your Level, with higher Level players being awarded more Loyalty Points with each full coin. You’re also awarded some Loyalty Points during daily bonuses.
The great thing about Loyalty Points is that they never expire and will sit in your account until redeemed. If you’ve connected your app accounts through Facebook, the Loyalty you earn from each app will be combined so that your Loyalty balance will be the same in each app.
Chips
The final metric to track in myVEGAS games is chips, the in-game currency used to play. Just like when playing real slots, blackjack, or bingo, you must place a bet to play. The chips you bet are gone if you lose, and any winnings are added to your chip total.
If you lose all your chips, you must either wait for bonuses or purchase more before playing.
myVEGAS Rewards
The best part about playing myVEGAS Slots and the other games is the rewards. There are hundreds of potential rewards that you can redeem if you have enough Loyalty Points to do so.
The points required to redeem rewards vary, with more valuable rewards costing more points and includes:
- Free Nights at M life properties
- Discounts on rooms
- Restaurant and buffet credits or discounts
- Drinks
- Free play at M life property casinos
- Discounts on or tickets to shows
- Discounts on Tours and other travel experiences
- Unique experiences and merchandise
Being affiliated primarily with M life Rewards, most of the rewards available are for properties in Las Vegas belonging to the MGM Resorts group. However, there are also available rewards for MGM properties elsewhere and partner properties, including Grand Villa Casino and InterContinental.
With 13 M life properties in Las Vegas, you’ll have the most reward options and get the best bang for your buck by using myVEGAS Slots and the related games for trips to Las Vegas.
Redeeming myVEGAS Rewards
Once you have enough Loyalty Points to redeem rewards, doing so is very straightforward.
You will need a couple of things to redeem your myVEGAS rewards. First, you’ll need to have your app account connect to a Facebook account. Second, you’ll need to sign up for a free M life Rewards account using the same email address as the Facebook account associated with your games.
You must have the same email address associated with both your Facebook and M life Rewards accounts, or you will not be able to redeem rewards.
Once you get your accounts set up, browse the rewards section of the app until you find a reward you want. Next, read the terms and conditions, agree to them, and enter your email address and name to confirm your reward purchase.
Once the purchase is made, your reward will appear in your rewards wallet. You’ll then receive an email with instructions for redeeming your reward using your M life Rewards account.
It’s important to note that your reward is not considered redeemed until you follow through with the instruction in the email and redeem through the M life site. Until then, you may return your rewards in the app.
As a result, I would highly recommend you not redeem rewards other than those used to book rooms until you are in Vegas and ready to use them if your plans change or better rewards become available.
myVEGAS Rewards Rules and Tips
Sounds too good to be true, right? Although I assure you myVEGAS Slots and the other games are legitimate and that you can, in fact, redeem rewards, there are some rules and tips to keep in mind before you jump headlong into myVEGAS.
- There is a limit of 3 rewards that can be redeemed within 30 days for each account. The clock resets based on when the rewards are used, not when you purchase them in the app.
- You can redeem unlimited rewards not tied to M life
- Hotel rewards are limited to 1 reward every 30 days, meaning you won’t be able to combine a 1-night free reward with a 2-night free reward. You can, however, combine reward nights with others who have separate accounts
- Hotel rewards are typically limited to Sunday through Thursday night
- There are restrictions on many of the rewards, such as a minimum 3-night hotel stay for a $100 slot credit
- The most popular rewards, such as comp buffets and meals, sell out quickly
- Most rewards restock daily but at random times
- Some rewards are restricted depending on how much money has been spent in the app so that you may see different rewards than others.
- These games are targeted at those living outside Las Vegas, so you’ll notice that many rewards won’t be available once you’re actually in Vegas.
- Anecdotal evidence suggests that those who spend hundreds of dollars in the app buying chips can redeem more than 3 rewards per 30-day period. Still, the ability to redeem more rewards is not worth spending the money it takes to unlock that ability.
My myVEGAS Experience
I’ve been playing myVEGAS Slots since November of 2020 based on the recommendation of a friend. I was intrigued by the idea of free night rewards and other prizes but was skeptical of actually being able to redeem anything without jumping through a bunch of hoops.
I recently had the opportunity to put myVEGAS and M life Rewards to the test on a Vegas trip I took in July, and I’m happy to report that the process of redeeming rewards was surprisingly easy.
As described above, I set up an M life account, chose my reward, and quickly booked my stay through the M life site. I was able to redeem two free nights at Excalibur on a weeks’ notice without issue. A friend redeemed a 25% off night stay at Excalibur, and we were able to combine the rewards into a 3-night stay.
We let the desk person know we were staying together when checking in, and they could combine the two rewards so we could stay in the same room throughout our trip.
Additionally, we also redeemed free drink vouchers and discounts at restaurants. Unfortunately, we could not grab any of the most popular rewards like a free buffet or buy one get one buffet.
One thing to note about redeeming drinks, meals, or free play vouchers is that you’ll need to visit the M life desk in the casino to have that reward loaded onto your M life card. Only then will you be able to use the reward.
That means that if you’re looking to redeem a drink voucher at Mandalay Bay, you’ll need to visit the M life desk at Mandalay Bay to redeem it.
While it’s a bit of a pain to have to visit the desk at the specific location of your reward, it’s a small price to pay for the discounts you can receive.
The free and discounted nights we earned from playing myVEGAS Slots, along with airline points and a plethora of free things to do in Las Vegas, meant that we were able to take a 3-night trip for only a few hundred dollars.
If you live within reasonable driving distance of Las Vegas, you could theoretically stay with a friend or partner for 2-4 nights a month on only the cost of the resort fees and any activities plus gas and food.
myVEGAS games make Las Vegas a perfect day trip, road trip, or short getaway for those living close by.
Tips for Maximizing Rewards
Now that you know all about myVEGAS Slots and the rest of the myVEGAS games and rewards, we’ll wrap up with some tips for maximizing rewards.
First, I would highly encourage you to play with the chips you can collect throughout the day and through the daily bonuses. I purchased a $1.99 package once but otherwise could build up chips and play with just daily collections.
Since November of 2020, I have collected chips and Loyalty Points almost daily through the daily bonuses, and many days have played until I’ve hit my Loyalty max. In that time, and without playing every day, I’ve built up 512,560 Loyalty Points. That isn’t including the 50,000 I spent on reward redemptions on my recent trip!
This amount of Loyalty Points will get me any of the hotel reward options available with plenty to spare, so it’s relatively easy to build up enough Loyalty Points for the redemptions you want in a short amount of time.
Some other tips for maximizing Rewards include:
- Make sure to collect daily bonuses for each app
- If you have time, play each app until you’ve earned your max Loyalty Points for the day.
- Purchase rewards BEFORE going to Las Vegas as you will have more options
- Stack your rewards by encouraging friends or your partner to earn Loyalty Points as well, which can then be combined for more extended stays and more savings
- Use myVEGAS in tandem with M life Rewards to gain the most benefits and value out of each trip
Final Thoughts
Sin City is a bucket list destination for many and a gambler’s paradise, but while Vegas is known for booze and casinos, there is so much more to see and do.
No matter whether it’s your first trip to Vegas or the hundredth, any money saved on getting to and staying in Las Vegas can be put toward activities and exploring what the city has to offer.
myVEGAS Slots and rewards is a great way to help you earn free travel to Las Vegas while scratching your gambling itch, all for free.
Simply download a few of the apps, earn Loyalty Points, and redeem rewards for free nights, free and discounted food and drinks, and savings on activities. You can even redeem free play at casinos.
But if you want to save money on your Las Vegas vacation, make sure you skip the casinos and stick to the virtual ones while you’re there.
