Real talk: Trading can be a disappointment. Sometimes even professional traders have unprofitable months, so don’t be too hard on yourself. Yes, trading is, indeed, difficult; we all know that. So to remind you why you have chosen this life for yourself, let’s discuss ten reasons why being a trader sometimes can be both much more difficult and, at the same time, much better than having any other profession that has ever existed.
- The most obvious reason: Financial Freedom
The term “financial freedom” means more than just having enough money that allows you not to worry about bills and other everyday problems. It also means that you have absolute freedom. We think that the opportunity to earn enough money to live comfortably anywhere in the world, needing only a computer and an Internet connection, is a powerful motivating thought.
Being a successful trader isn’t just about making a lot of money. It is much more than that. It gives you freedom. You have the freedom to do whatever you want whenever you want, and you really can’t put a price tag on this.
- You’re a bully. Reasons to be a trader
Traders are looking for a way out, an exit from the “Matrix,” a modern way of living and working from 9 to 5. Wanting to make more money with less effort than white collars make for their paycheck – that’s what drives traders.
Thus, to be a trader, you have to have a different mentality from the masses. You are a “lone wolf” that is against the mindset of the whole world, and you don’t care what others think. When asked about trading, many people will simply present it as “too risky” or that only an “elite” group of people can do it. These people are “sheep” who are willing to stay and sleep in the “Matrix.” But you want to be a trader, and it means that you have the mentality of a bully, in a good sense – you don’t accept standard rules that society wants to impose on you.
- Fleeing from the “9-5” standard
Trading will allow you to lead a great life. You can lie on the beach, relax and make money – that’s the embodiment of “living the dream.”
It’s better than coming to work and reporting to your bosses on time every day. Waking up at 6 am, you rush to work, hoping not to get told off by your boss. Trading will allow you to avoid this form of modern slavery. We all go to work 40 hours a week (or more), hunched over a table in the windowless rooms – it is just a form of slavery. Trading allows you to escape from this. Of course, it is not easy, but it gives you a chance for absolute freedom.
- Flexibility. Reasons to be a trader
The flexibility that you get as a trader is fantastic. You don’t have to worry about missing a day of work or asking for a day off if you want to visit relatives or go on a minor holiday. You can have your schedule, go wherever you want, and do whatever you want whenever you want. You don’t have to live by someone’s rules or schedules – that’s one of the best things about trading.
- Family time
If you have children, trading will allow you to spend more time with them and be there for them as they grow older. This is particularly important when they are small and do new things every day. Spending 8 or 10 hours at work every day makes you miss at least half of your child’s childhood. It is priceless to spend a lot of time with the family. As a trader, you can do this.
- You understand the world better
Trading will help you understand the differences in the economies of various countries around the world. It has always been quite surprising to me to find out how few people know about stock exchanges and the relative advantages of different countries. Being a trader, you become focused on the price of various currency pairs, and it helps you understand the world better than most other people who are not involved in trading. For example, suppose you want to visit another country. In that case, you probably already know the exchange rate difference between the country’s currency and yours, while most people have no idea about it.
- You’re your boss. Reasons to be a trader
If you are a trader, you don’t have any other boss than yourself. You will make decisions independently, both on the market and in life. If one day you wake up and don’t feel like doing anything, you don’t have to. You don’t have to go to work and listen to your boss telling you what to do. You set your own rules.
However, this kind of freedom is not for everyone. Some people just break the rules introduced in the workplace and society. For example, if you want to work as a full-time trader, you have to make your schedule. Those who can do this get absolute freedom. But if you are not enterprising and purposeful, it will be difficult for you to deal with this aspect of trading.
- You can trade as long as you live – it’s not manual labor. Reasons to be a trader
The fact that both youth and the elderly can engage in trading alike makes it even more tempting. If you are a trader, you may choose not to retire if you don’t want to. You can trade all your life because it’s not manual labor, and you can do this from the comfort of your own home. Thus, trading allows you to generate income for your whole life.
- Equal opportunities for all. Reasons to be a trader
You don’t need a university degree to become a successful trader. It takes determination, perseverance, and above all, discipline and patience, to be good at trading. Trading truly gives opportunities for all. Anyone who wants to become a trader can learn from scratch; there are no special requirements. Some of the best traders in the world don’t have a formal college education. Therefore, trading offers a real opportunity for anyone in the world who is looking for another way of life and the path to true freedom from today’s highly structured social norms.
- Helping others. Reasons to be a trader
After becoming a successful trader, you will find yourself in a unique position to help other people. You can help your friends and family not only financially (which is also very cool), you can also provide them with a skill, something that they can use later to build their true freedom, just like you. It will benefit them and bring you great inner satisfaction. That’s one big reason why I started teaching people how to trade according to my trading system. You can live your life to the fullest if you help others and make a change in their life. That’s exactly my goal – teach people how to trade.
